Making Strides

It was a beautiful Wednesday at Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir as the teachers, staff and students celebrated the birthday of our beloved Sai Krushna and Teacher’s Day.

The day begun with a short programme of bhajans, dance and drama to celebrate Janmashtami. With Bal Vikas being an integral part of the school curriculum, the teachers and students put up a wonderful show. The drama was based on the story of Jatila. It was enacted so beautifully by the students. It brought out the essence that faith can help us overcome our fears. When we are faced with challenges, we can always trust in God’s help. God will always be there for us, no matter what. The highlight of the event was the ‘handi breaking’. The little Krushnas of SKVM were thrilled to break the handi tied high above. Within minutes, they formed a human pyramid and broke the pot sending down a shower of sweets. It was heartening to see the children shout in glee and clamour to get their hands on them.

The second session of the programme was organized entirely by the students of class 9 and 10 to honour the Teachers. Right from welcoming each and every teacher, to organizing a host of fun-filled activities and games including no heat cooking and treasure hunt, the event was hosted and conducted beautifully. The teachers and students got a chance to act like each other and have the others guessing as to who it was. For a change, the students instructed the teachers and the latter behaved like students, running around the campus, playing and being noisy. The students were delighted to see their teachers enjoying themselves. Overall, it was a really special day. The students had done their teachers proud!

This was not the first instance of the students showing how much they have grown.  Just a fortnight back, the students put up a fantastic show on Independence Day programme. Their speeches, dances and songs left the audience spell bound. And not just in culturals, our students are excelling in academics too. A four-member team of our school students won the Kalam Space Challenge for their project on Mission Sai Chandra. It is based on establishing a city on the moon.

They qualified for this from among thousands of participants after four levels of screening. It was a huge privilege for the students to receive the awards at ISTRAC along with their mentor and guide Dr Rangarajan.

At Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir, our students are preparing to participate in several Olympiads to sharpen their minds, increase exposure and work hard to excel. Several interschool contests were also held in the last month.

For those of you who have not visited the school recently, SKVM has got a face lift with some beautiful landscaping. It is heartening to see the flowers add colour to the school. Another important development in recent times has been the ‘Reading Programme’ aimed at helping certain students with additional coaching in reading, writing and speaking. These remedial classes are being conducted with the help of the school teachers and several volunteers including Mr. Nagaraj and Mr. Vikram. The concept of education at SKVM is to develop children into learners. Children are given the space, time and assistance to learn at a comfortable pace.

With the blessings of Sai Krushna, some exciting events will unfold over the coming months. So stay tuned.
