Making Every Drop Count

Sai Krushna Charitable Trust has been a hive of activity over the last two months. Brother Abhimanyu Kaul, a senior alumnus of SSSIHL visited Sai Krushna Mandir in the first week of September. He regaled the members, volunteers and teachers thoroughly with his amazing experiences narrated with so much love and cheer. His stories were a real morale booster for all involved in Swami’s work. The children too sat in rapt silence, savouring every incident.

He also took some sessions on self discovery and motivation for the teachers at Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir. His talk at Jyothi college as part of the 3H Catalyst programme was enlightening.

The Saturday no-bag-day sessions have been going on in full swing. .Several volunteers came forward to teach vedam, communication skills, subject-wise coaching for the weaker students, computer science and sports. Overall, Saturday is the busiest and the most exciting day of the week with children strengthening their foundation, and expanding their horizons.

In an initiative to improve the overall health of the children at Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir, the trustees and the school management have home-made nutritious prasadam distributed amongst the kids every week. Each day, the students get their share of proteins and nutrition in the form of delicious protein laddoos made with nuts and pulses, sprouts, vegetables, fruits or boiled legumes. This also encourages children to be aware of what they eat and choose healthy snacks. The best part is that several parents of the students volunteer to help prepare these snacks.

September 23rd was Foundation Day. Twelve years back, on this day, Sai Krushna Charitable trust was born to carry out Swami’s work. Ever since that day, consistent efforts have been made to become a better instrument of His and to serve His children. We continue to pray to Swami to guide our every thought, word and action.

23rd September was also the final day of school for the children before Pooja vacations.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, the 3H Catalyst programme was set in motion at the SIVET College, Chennai. More than 150 students across departments and years signed up for the programme Regular sessions on communication and marketing were conducted. These sessions involved multiple activities to encourage experiential learning.

The team also successfully  Inaugurated the 3H Catalyst training programme to improve employability of students in Sri Sai Vignan Bharathi College ( a low income Women’s College) at Secunderabad. An MoU was signed on September 22, 2022 between the college and 3H Catalyst. Students will be trained through the academic year in several essential soft skills to make them more prepared to take up jobs after college. This is completely free of cost for the college and the students.

As schools reopened after a wonderful Navaratri, it was time to gear up for the next festival- Diwali! Several extra-curricular activities such as drawing and diya painting were conducted to gear up for the festival.

Festivals are always fun, especially when the entire family comes together. That was the case on October 24th at Sai Krushna Mandir as several members of the SKCT family came from near and far to celebrate together. The day was extra special as it was also the birthday of our two SKM children, Devi Prasad and Prajwal. Cakes, home-made goodies, and loads of fireworks completed this really special day. The children of Sai Krushna Mandir were exhilarated to burst a variety of crackers brought by the various volunteers and their families. It was indeed a wonderful day.
