Ending the Year on a High

The month of December was like a feather in the cap as it witnessed a lot of activities and achievements.

Padma Vibhushan and Chairman of NEP, Dr. Kasthurirangan interacting with the students of Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir.

December 2, 2021 was a very special day for the students, staff and management of Sai Krushna Vidya. Padma Vibhushan Dr Kasturirangan, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Chairman of National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 and Former Chairman, ISRO visited the school. He spent over 20 minutes interacting with the teachers and students of Class 10. Subsequently, some students from classes 8 and 9 also displayed their exhibits on Science, Educare, Medicare, and Sociocare. Dr Kasturirangan was very impressed with the fluency and confidence with which the children communicated with him. He was very appreciative of the excellent efforts of the teachers, volunteers and management in developing this 100 percent Free Rural School applying the latest tools in technology. Wishing Sai Krushna Charitable Trust the very best, he expressed his keenness to support the Trust’s efforts in expanding its scope and activities via the Sai Krushna Grama project.
Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir will also continue to work closely as a pilot school in NEP implementation.

The students of class 6 performed a role-play at Prayoga on the topic “Garbage in and Garbage out”. Thus, by integrating science with arts, the lesson was learnt. All the students participated in the role-play and a few of them made posters. They got hands-on experience in segregating waste into wet and dry waste, learning the importance of proper waste disposal.

On December 4, 2021, Daasa sinchana program was organized as a token of gratitude for the Anna poornis or volunteers involved in food seva during Covid wave 1 and 2. On this occasion, the winners of the Rangoli competition, conducted as part of Swami’s birthday celebrations, were awarded a cash prize for the same.

National Mathematics Day, in memory of Mathematician Prof. Sreenivasa Ramanujan was celebrated by Students of class 7 and 8 on December 22nd. They presented an oration based on his Birth and Contribution towards mathematics. This was followed by a small math exhibition that portrayed the innovative ideas of the young minds in the form of working models .

Among our prominent accomplishments is the selection of our students for the INSPIRE Awards – MANAK (one of the flagship programmes of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India) which aims to motivate students in the age group of 10-15 years and studying in classes 6 to 10. The objective of the scheme is to target one million original ideas/innovations rooted in science and societal applications to foster a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children. This was the first time that our school participated in such a prestigious event that takes place pan India. From the 5 ideas which were submitted, 3 of them Shrushti ( class 7), Koushik(class 8),Chandan (class 10) were selected for their originality, uniqueness and practicality. These students would be competing in the next round of the competition at the district and state level.

Every festival offers us a wonderful opportunity to share what we have with others. The happiness this creates in others makes our lives so beautiful. In keeping with the festivities around the world, the students of class 9 showcased this spirit of sharing by dressing up as Santas and distributing chocolates and biscuits to all the students of the school. Every biscuit or a chocolate was given with love, a smile and a ‘HO HO HO…MERRY CHRISTMAS’ which filled every child with joy and wonder. And what is Christmas without plum cake! One of our volunteers, Mr. Venkat Narayanan made Christmas memorable by distributing yummy plum cakes to all the students and teachers.

We are grateful to Swami for keeping us all healthy and safe in 2021. We pray for His blessings and guidance as we step into the New year.
